Phoenix Exec Earns Accredited Airport Executive Designation

Matthew Heil, Deputy Aviation Director, Strategy, Policy & Administration for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, earned the Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation on July 19 at the 79th Annual SWAAAE Summer Conference in Newport Beach, CA. To achieve the designation, Heil completed three phases of the accreditation process. He passed a 180-item multiple-choice exam, met a writing requirement, and successfully completed a final interview conducted by a panel of A.A.E. professionals, where he demonstrated his knowledge of airport management, business administration, and general transportation economics.

Heil’s accomplishment was supported by his mentor, Tim Reid from Riverside County Aviation. The panel that evaluated his performance included Harry Barrett, Jr. from Palm Springs International Airport; Brett Godown from San Bernardino County; and Andrew Solsvig, MBA, from Redding Regional Airport.
